Raft Race: Happy New Year! Not quite the summer holiday weather we are used to - but every cloud has a silver
lining:- the grass is greener and the "veges" are flourishing!
There is quite a bit in the pipeline in the next few weeks. The revived Motueka River Raft race is on Monday
February 6th. If you haven't got your registration in yet.
Contact the OTM or Abel Tasman Outdoors. Registrations close 27 January - that's this Friday!

Raft Race 2011 - "off to a soggy start"
Top Shop: The annual Top Shop promotional event has been
rescheduled this year, to avoid clashing with other
activities mid-year. Timing also allows an
opportunity to take advantage of evaluating your
well-honed customer service skills which have
been more active in the busier summer months.
Top Shop will be launched in Motueka on Monday
13 February 2012.
Nelson Tasman Chamber of Commerce is holding
the following workshops presented by Stephen
Caunter of ANZ National Bank to assist
businesses to improve.
Flower baskets: Many comments have been received regarding the
flower baskets, trees and general appearance of the
town looking brighter and more welcoming. Thank
you to those retailers and staff who have diligently
watered the flower baskets and special thanks to the
Motueka Rural Fire Service for their voluntary efforts
watering regularly too.
We are aware that some have taken a hammering
from the wind and general conditions and the
watering system is not perfect however, better
irrigation is being worked on for next year.
Motueka maps: Supplies of the Motueka street directory/map are
available from the OTM office, which lists Motueka
businesses and an event calendar. It is in a folded
format.
The Motueka map by Harlequin in desk pad form is
available from Abel Tasman Outdoors.
Space for pedestrians and customers: Comments regarding street furniture racks and signs
have been bought to the attention of Our Town
Motueka. TDC are currently monitoring the situation.
Local authority bylaws state that anything other than
an advertising sandwich board/sign on the pavement
requires a permit.
If you need clarification of this check the policy on
the TDC website.
Coming up: On Sunday March 4th, the 2nd charity cricket match will be conducted at
Motueka’s Memorial park
The selected charity will be the Jack Inglis Friendship
Hospital to assist in subsidizing the imminent
extensions and also the Food Bank.
