The Motueka Community Board's Annual Plan submission for 2010 - 2011

(In summary form. For full details, contact the Board)

1. Increase the level of council spending in the Motueka ward and work towards a balanced rate/spend policy so that money raised in the ward is spent in the ward.
2. Make progress on the Motueka west and central planning strategy to the Variation of the Tasman Resource Management Plan stage.
3. Keep tabs on the Motueka flood control projects, including looking into Peach Island channel and secondary flow channels.
4. Make the extension or rebuilding of the busy Motueka library a higher priority.
5. Increase the council's spending on cycleways, footpaths, kerbs and crossings.
6. Push for a major upgrade to the Riwaka - Kaiteriteri Road.
7. Push for more input into the Motueka Transportation Study. Approve funding and projects arising from this Study, in co-operation with NZTA.

9. Upgrade the waste water treatment plant at the Motueka Oxidation Ponds.
10. Improve stormwater drainage in Poole Street and High Street to Fearon Street.
11. Support central Government and District Council to tower carbon dioxide emissions.
12. Develop the Port Motueka/North Street/foreshore area into a better public amenity.
13. Address the issues of freedom camping and rural burnoffs and firewood projects.
14. Push for community service issues such as play equipment, swimming pool project and the Thorps Bush management plan.
15. Remove the community board targeted rate.
16. Delegate some local functions, responsibilities and funding to the community boards.
